GAB Obazee Medical & Dialysis Center

Charitable giving helps us keep our clinic open and provide the critical health services need for residents in the Iyowa community. Your partnership is appreciated and all donations to Beacon for the

GAB Obazee Medical Center are tax deductible.

Gabriel Obazee Medical and Dialysis Center (GOMDC) located in lyowa community intends to meet the health needs of rural dwellers in lyowa, Oluku, Otofure, Eko-Abetu, Evboneka, Azuwa, lsuiwa, and Ugbogiobo communities. These villages are clustered around lyowa in Ovia North East Local Government Area, Edo State, Nigeria.

Nigeria as a third world nation lacks an adequate healthcare system, The worst hit by this inadequacy are the rural areas, where very few if any healthcare facilities exist; The residents in these rural areas have to travel up to 50 miles or more for basic healthcare services

The population of Ovia North East is about 153,849. It is estimated that each of the villages under these Local government areas has an average of 1000 to 5000 dwellers. They are predominantly petty traders and farmers involved in growing produce like oil palms, plantain, yam, cassava, corn, etc.  Key landmarks at lyowa and adjoining communities: Ezomo grammar school at Ora, Akogate Still water Factory, Rising powder Venture, a cottage industry with an annex just before and after GOMDC, a petrol station, mini-oil palm mill and Timber SawMill.

Presently, in the absence of GOMDC, they meet their health needs by patronizing traditional herbal doctors, or travel to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) in Ugbowo, which is over 50 miles away for some residents.

At GOMDC we believe that everyone should have access to basic healthcare, therefore, we aim to build a low-cost healthcare delivery center to meet the needs of the community and reduce / prevent the high infant mortality rate as well as high death rates from conditions such as Diabetes, High Blood pressure, High Cholesterol and others that can be treated successfully with early diagnosis.
